About the Chamber

What Is The Chamber?

The Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial progress of our community.

The area's economic well-being is directly related to the caliber of work that is done by the Chamber's members and employees. It is for this reason the Chamber has a major impact on business, income and future growth of the area.

There are two primary functions of a Chamber of Commerce; (1) It acts as a spokesperson for the business and professional community and translates into action the group thinking of its members, and (2) It effectively renders services to its members and community.

Objectives Of The Chamber:

  1. To promote the Glendive area and its vast resources.
  2. To coordinate the efforts of commerce, industry and professions by maintaining and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate throughout the Glendive area.
  3. To sponsor aggressive programs and stimulate activities which will provide for full employment and development of our human and economic resources.
  4. To provide creative business leadership and effective coordination of all interested parties in solving community problems and in initiating constructive community action.
  5. To create a broad understanding and appreciation of the great opportunities which surround the Glendive area, and to promote the advantages and assets of our community, the area, state and nation.

How The Chamber Operates:

Chamber Board of Directors—The Board is the policy making body of the Chamber. Its members represent the business and professional leadership of the community. The Board consists of nine (9) members. Three are elected each year for a three (3) year term. The President of the Board presides over all meetings.

Executive Committee—The Executive Committee consists of the President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Past President, if still serving on Board, and Executive Director. It exercises the powers of the Board between regular Board meetings. Duties of the Executive Committee are two-fold: To be responsible for committee productivity and to perform in a liaison and advisory capacity.

Committees—Committees are responsible to the Board of Directors and shall provide a monthly report at the regular monthly meeting of the board. Those committees include but are not limited to: ACT (Activities, Conventions & Tourism), Ag (Agriculture Committee), Caviar, and Friends In Business.

How The Chamber Is Financed:

The Chamber is primarily financed by the investment of its members through membership fees. The maintenance of an adequate level of support from all business and professional interests in the community is essential to finance the programs that are vital to community growth and development.

The membership fee varies between individual and business according to the current dues structure. Please contact us to learn more.
